Visitor guides are published to promote tourism associated with a particular community. The following guides are available:

Chambers of Commerce
The Chamber of Commerce in each community promotes local attractions and things to do with events published in an online calendar. Check the Chambers of Commerce website listings in the Communities section.

Arid Lands (a film)
An award winning film, Arid Lands, focuses on the environmental and cultural history of the Mid-Columbia Basin. The film tells the story of the changes that have shaped this landscape, from Hanford nuclear production and federal irrigation projects, to more recent forces, such as environmental cleanup, housing development, and tourism. The Columbia River - A Photographic Journey
A wonderful photo essay, The Columbia River - A Photographic Journey, explores Lewis & Clark's Columbia River - "200 Years Later." According to Lyn Topinka, the journey "includes over 2,500 images of geographic areas and interesting items along 330-plus miles of the Columbia River, covering the area seen by Lewis and Clark in 1805 and 1806."

Endless Discoveries
The Tri-Cities Visitors & Convention Bureau has a short video called "Endless Discoveries" that highlights the Tri-Cities area.


Everyday with Rachael Ray
Take a crash course in America's hottest new wine region. Mapped Out! Walla Walla is a slideshow that was published in Everyday with Rachael Ray.

John Clement Photography
John Clement is a master landscape photographer and his photographs have achieved world acclaim. You can see many of his wonderful landscapes of this region at John Clement Photography.

Northwest Journeys
John Crancer, an Emmy award recepient, hosts Northwest Journeys, which shows 30 minute features about the Northwest each week. Shows have been produced about the Prosser Balloon Rally and the Southeastern Washington wine industry that you can view online. A new feature is presented each Sunday at 4 PM on KVEW TV.

Northwest Magazines
Northwest Magazines published the 2006/2007 Vacation Guide to the Columbia & Snake Rivers Region (PDF) that provides travel information about this region.

Photos & Videos
Photo sharing websites such as Flickr and Webshots can be searched for photographs taken in this region that have been submitted by community members and visitors. Here are example search results for the Tri-Cities from Flickr and Webshots. Also, Walla2Chick has posted some great photos of the Walla Walla area on Flickr.

Video sharing websites such as YouTube allow you to search for videos shot in different communities. Here are example search results for Tri-Cities, Walla Walla, Yakima, and Pendleton.

Sam McLeod's Guide to Downtown Walla Walla (Humor)
Here is Walla Walla resident Sam McLeod's first attempt to make a video for his friend Larry, showing him Walla Walla's beautiful downtown.

Sam is also an author of several books about Walla Walla including "Welcome to Walla Walla" and "Blue Walla."

Scenic Byways
Experience Washington, the official site of Washington State tourism, describes several scenic byways that are worth taking a drive including the Lewis & Clark Trail where you can follow in the footsteps of the Lewis & Clark Expedition, the Palouse where you can follow the route of Native Americans, pioneers and settlers, the Yakima where you cross through the Columbia River plateau in the shadow of Mt. Adams, and the Yakima River Canyon which is an alternative route to Interstate 82 between Yakima and Ellensburg.

Sunday Drives
"See South-Central Washington - A Sunday's Drive Guide" was published in 1982. This book was authored by Jean Carol Davis and illustrated by Jerre Amy (aka Jerre Raven). The author explored the history along ten different routes with Tri-Cities as the starting point.

Unfortunately, this book is no longer in print but a few used copies are still available from Amazon.com and AbeBooks.com.

Terry's Travel Blog
Travels with Terry, by Terry Richards with The Oregonion, is a blog filled with travel stories for many areas in Oregon and Washington. Terry has blog entries for Central Washington and Eastern Washington with topics such as "Chasing wild geese in the Columbia refuge" and "Take a hike (or bike) with Sacagawea." In addition, Terry has blog entries for Eastern Oregon.

Traffic & Weather Webcams
Washington State and Oregon State Department of Transportation webcams can be viewed between the Tri-Cities and Yakima, Tri-Cities and Walla, and around Pendleton.

VW Vanagon Travels
Harald and Nancy share their travel stories to Palouse Country, Othello Sandhill Crane Festival, Yakima Nation, and Fort Simcoe in their VW Vanagon.

Are you living in England?
North American Highways, a travel agency in England, offers both a Washington and Oregon Vintage Wine Tour. The Washington tour lasts 12 nights and covers about 665 miles between Seattle and this region. Several nights are spent in both the Yakima Valley and in Walla Walla.
